This week we have an international guest at the UNIBZ in order to plan a programme for 2019ff, that will bring together Social Work students from the California State University in San Bernardino/CA/USA and students from the University of Bozen/South Tyrol/Italy. Together we will explore social work practice and exchange with experts. The goal is to collaboratively develop practice relevant research interests for a possible comparative research in the future.

In order to set up the programme for next year we are exploring different areas of social work in South Tyrol and we are talking with experts in those fields. Today we met in South Tyrolean Kinderdorf with Marko Menzel and Dagmar Atz, on Thursday we will have talks in the social service Meran, on Friday with ‚Haus der Solidarität‘ and next week we will visit women shelters in Bozen and Brixen.

I already collaborated with the coordinator of the programme James Simon earlier in the Social Pedagogy – Programms at St. Pölten. There we organised joint lectures where we compared social work ‚cases‘ and how they were professionally dealt with in the contexts of Austria and California.
